Learn how to effectively manage volunteers in a busy hunger relief program in Brattleboro, Vermont. Help with community outreach efforts to reach more people in need at a time when food insecurity has increased significantly. Support FoodWorks guests with accessing this basic human right and in building relationships during this time of isolation. Participate in community-led efforts to destigmatize getting help and building food justice. Groundworks Collaborative is a non-profit agency serving Windham County, whose mission is to provide ongoing support to families and individuals facing housing and food insecurities. The goal of this position is to enhance the services within FoodWorks, a community food shelf and project of Groundworks Collaborative. This position will support staff by recruiting and organizing volunteers, facilitating volunteer meetings and trainings, support community outreach efforts and support the daily operations of the food shelf. This position includes serving indoors and outdoors, and primarily functions Monday-Friday with a flexible schedule. Position begins September 11, 2023 and ends August 9, 2024. This position is Full Time: Requires 1,720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 48 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $26,000 (pre-tax), a housing allowance of $300 per month, and an education award of $6,895 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Member Duties : • Assist in the operation of the food shelf, including stocking shelves, checking clients in, assisting with shopping, and picking up food from the Vermont Foodbank and local grocery stores. • Support community outreach efforts including organizing food drives, tabling in the community, and maintaining and fostering new connections with local businesses, groceries, and farms. • Assist with intake process, forms, and record keeping. • Participate in an Independent Service Project under the guidance of VHCB AmeriCorps • Participate in all VHCB AmeriCorps Trainings, Service Days, Events, and Program Initiatives.
