17 new operating rooms, with space for future growth located on the first floor in close proximi! ty to pre/post rooms and equipped with new features to help with patient care and caregiver convenience.
Operating rooms categorized by need: Neurosciences, General, Orthopedics, Cardiac, Cysto-Surgical and Trauma.
All operating rooms equipped with overhead booms and lights, as well as gas columns, to keep all unnecessary items off floors and make space more available to surgical teams.
All operating rooms are equipped with flash sterilizers to expedite sterilization of critical equipment or instruments. They are also equipped for video recording and playback, with video supervision outside of the room for relevant staff means no interruptions of current cases to check status or location of staff or equipment.
Dramatic new features include 31 brand new, private Pre/Post Op rooms, housed on the Tahoe Tower's first floor. Four of these rooms are isolation rooms for a possibly infectious patient to be prepped and recover in after receiving care.
In a! ddition, the first floor will also feature 39 post acute care ! unit recovery bays, including three bays that are acoustically isolated for pediatric patients recovering from anesthesia.
The surgery unit also has four private consult rooms for family members. These rooms allow families to meet privately with surgeons or staff to discuss procedures, outcomes and next steps.
This is a Weekend Nights position: Fri, Sat, Sun ** 10% diff for working nights**
Position Purpose:
This position provides patient care of technical nature. The technologist is responsible for supplying the operating room with the proper equipment and instrumentation that's needed for specific surgery. During the procedure the primary responsibilities of the technologist is to maintain the sterility of the surgical field, to anticipate the needs of the surgeons, passing instruments in a timely fashion. Under direct supervision the technologist may be asked to perform the following duties such as, but not limited to: Sponge or suction! , hold retractors or instrument placed by the surgeons, applies electocautery to clamps on bleeders, irrigation to the operative sight, cuts suture material, connects drains to the suction apparatus, applies dressings to the wound. Once the procedure is completed it is the responsibility of the technologist to care for the instrumentation, equipment and prepare for the following case.
A second assisting technologist may perform all of the duties listed above with the direct supervision of the surgeons.
This position will provide any assistance needed to expedite the room turnover thereby, providing optimum customer service to the surgeon, patient, anesthesiologist, and co-workers.
Nature and Scope:
This position serves a patient population of Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric.
This position provides technical skills as a member of the surgical team, communicating with supervisors, other surgery staff, surgeons, and anesthesiolog! ists.
The demands on this position are very dynamic because of! rapid changes in medical procedures, technical knowledge, instrumentation, equipment, policies, procedures, and because of surgeon's preferences in equipment, instruments, needles, and suture.
This position has the freedom to decide the type of equipment and supplies required for the surgical care of the patient relative to the surgeon's preference cards and knowledge of the procedure, and to identify any breakdown in aseptic technique and take appropriate action.
This position ensures equipment is working properly before surgical procedure, cares for equipment after procedure, and is responsible for reporting equipment that is not working properly or is broken.
Other related duties, flexible hours, and overtime may be required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
1. Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Renown Health Standards of Conduct.
2. Basic hand-eye coordination.
3. Skills for providing patient care of technical na! ture under the supervision of a registered nurse.
4. Skills for performing scrub duties, which facilitate the work of the surgeon.
5. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial and safety appropriate to the age of the patients served.
This position does provide patient care.

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Must complete a formal technologist school program or a formal hospital based training program.
Experience:
One year! as a Technologist preferred.
License(s):
None.
Certification(s):
Current BLS certification by the American Heart Association standards required.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
